This wound started when the patient cut herself while walking barefoot on the beach. The wound rapidly progressed and spread to multiple sites on her heel, necessitating surgical debridement, which she underwent twice. Traditional wound care products like Daikin's solution and povidone-iodine did nothing to improve her wound. She was then advised another round of surgery, but came to us for second opinion.
Ultrasound assisted debridement with Prontosan was done every treatment session was done to control and eliminate the infection, remove slough and dead tissue, promote healthy granulation tissue, and initiate wound healing. We managed to heal the wounds completely in 4 months.
