AR, 65/F, diabetic, with multiple infected foot ulcers.

Updated: Dec 31, 2020

This wound started with an unnoticed abrasion near the base of the big toe. It rapidly deteriorated and spread to multiple sites on the top of the foot. Traditional management methods like Daikin's solution, povidone-iodine, and topical antibacterial cream failed to control the infection and prevent wound worsening. The patient was advised amputation in another institution and came to us for a second opinion.

Ultrasound assisted debridement with Prontosan was done every treatment session. The wound responded well to treatment and infection was controlled early. Granulation tissue developed quickly and wound edges contracted steadily. Full healing of the multiple wounds was achieved in 3 months.
